Cannes Film Festival - Will Soderberghs Che Be Released

Steven Soderbergh's four-and-a-half-hour film Che had its debut at the Cannes
Film Festival Wednesday night. The film, which stars Benicio del Toro in the title
role of Argentine-born Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara, received mixed reviews, with
Peter Howell of the Toronto Star calling it "elephantine" and predicting that
if it is released as-is, "it will do nada at the box office and end up as
el stiffo grande." On the other hand, Farah Nayeri of Bloomberg News said that Soderbergh
"delivers enough moments of great cinema -- especially the majestic end -- to redeem
himself in the viewer's bleary eyes." Thus far, the $61.5-million film has reportedly
attracted no bidders at Cannes. Not only does it deal with a controversial subject,
but the dialog is in Spanish with English subtitles, and the length of the film makes
only one showing a night possible at theaters. At a news conference today (Thursday)
Soderbergh proposed that theater owners present it as one movie for the first week,
then split it up, showing the first part the second week and the second part the third
week. He also suggested that a printed program might help audiences follow along.
"That would be something fun," he remarked. He also quipped that the film presents
a marketing opportunity: "It's all an elaborate way for us to sell our own T-shirts."

Britney Spears - Changes Made To Spearsfederline Custody Agreement

LATEST: BRITNEY SPEARS has been given permission to spend the night with her two sons, after a new custody hearing in Los Angeles.

Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline returned to court on Tuesday (24Jun08) to review the custody status of Sean Preston, two, and one year old Jayden James.

The singer was previously only allowed three monitored visits with the children per week, after she was committed to a psychiatric facility to treat an alleged bi-polar disorder. These did not include overnight visitation.

Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini admits the three-hour closed-court hearing went well for Spears.

No details of the changes have been released, but TMZ.com claims Spears has been awarded overnight visitation rights.

Parachini says, "There was a change in (Spears's) visitation status that was ordered.

"Britney's demeanour in court was businesslike. I think anyjudge is pleased to see progress being made by parties in a case."

The next hearing is set for 15 July (08).

When Rob and John Wright weren't engaged fronting the eclecticist and gonzo punk rock group NoMeansNo -- which stormed out of Victoria, British Columbia, in the early '80s -- they were busy playing with a few friends in the less intriguing side contrive, the Hanson Brothers. The Hanson Brothers, named after the pugilistic field hockey siblings in the Paul Newman plastic film Slapshot, forewent the coordination compound rhythms and funk/jazz tendencies of its mother group to enjoy in dumb-punk tribute to the Ramones. While the mathematical group falls far brusque of looking like the Ramones, they do shout out out song countdowns like their heroes and offer such takeoff offerings as "Blitz Hops" (sample lyrical: "Hey! You! Let's Brew!). The group's debut LP, 1992's Gross Misconduct, made no castanets about beingness in the spirit of dumb sport and short else. (Specially with lyrics that rhyme, for example, "Zamboni" and "spumoni.") A soph endeavour, Sudden Death, followed in 1996. Like its predeccessor, it abounded with silliness and hockey themes.

Leading planetarium composer Serrie has been looking to the firmament for inspiration for over a x. Coming from a sept ensconced in the airmanship field of operation, Serrie now soars and glides with his custody on the controls of analog and digital synthesizers. His rhythmical outings ofttimes have an understated desperate feel, although he has too done some more pop-oriented instrumentals on his 1990 waiver Tingri. However, he seems most at place in the longer-form space-music journeys for which he initially became known. His dash seemed even further developed on his partnership with Gary Stroutsos for the 2000 recording, Concealed World.
